Community Regional Medical Trauma Center

Challenge

The medical trauma center wanted to reduce heat and glare, while providing natural filtered sunlight into the interior and reducing the need for artificial light.

Solution

To provide maximum sun control at the entrance to this California Medical Center, RTKL specified a CS Vertical Sunshade with long span airfoil blades. The radiused sunshades are anchored to the curtain wall system using tee brackets. On the patient wing CS Vertical sunshades are used in front of each patient room to reduce heat and glare, while providing natural filtered sunlight into the interior and reducing the need for artificial light.
