Boston Children’s Hospital

Challenge

Boston Children’s at Waltham was one of the renovated locations. The Children’s Behavioral Health area needed doors that would be impact-resistant, durable, long-lasting and allow staff to access patient rooms in the event of an emergency. To meet this need, the team selected CS’ barrier-resistant Acrovyn doors.

Solution

CS’ barrier-resistant Acrovyn doors feature a small, compact door within the main door that opens from the outside to prevent patients from barricading themselves in their room. These doors reduce liability and safety concerns by providing staff with easy access, but still give patients the privacy they need. These highly durable doors stand up to frequent impact and traffic, ideal for facilities that battle constant wear and tear. Each door’s outer leaf includes field replaceable Acrovyn edge covers and stiles to extend the door’s life. In Boston Children’s behavioral health area, CS’ Barrier-Resistant Acrovyn doors and its woodgrain finish were carefully selected to be a neutral yet functional piece within the hospital décor. Since the hospital’s reopening in 2017, our barrier-resistant doors have helped Boston Children’s staff provide the highest quality care for their patients and are the perfect combination of form and function.
