Boeing Everett Delivery Center

Challenge

The Boeing Everett Delivery Center wanted to reduce solar heat gain and glare during the day.

Solution

When CS Representative Erl Thorgalsen met with the project’s Senior Designer he brought a working sample of CS’ newest sunshade the Airfoil Lux. Upon seeing the lit LED blade sample the designer decided he wanted to use it on the Boeing project. The Airfoil Lux was to be added to a 10’ cantilevered sunshade at the crown of the building.  Erl noticed there was an additional 3’ cantilevered sunshade mounted to the windows below. Erl convincingly explained that the scopes need to remain with the same specification and be from the same supplier to ensure that finishes, engineering and warranties all remained as a single source responsibility. Erl and CS got the order for both the Airfoil Lux Sunshades and the shades on the windows below.  The first Airfoil Lux project in the United States now lights up the Boeing Everett Center.
