Because fire is an ever-present danger, the chimney effect at unprotected expansion joints may actually advance its spread. For this reason, C/S has developed three fire barrier systems designed to be used with any of our expansion joint assemblies. All systems have been tested at Underwriters Laboratories and are UL® Classified and Labeled.

Reflex is an innovative and cost effective new fire barrier system consisting of a compressible block of insulation housed in continuous stainless steel foil. Installation is as simple and economic as it gets!
The C/S Monoflex™ fire barrier is blanket type barrier designed for 1”-20” nominal floor and wall expansion joints. MonoFlex™ has been tested and proven to provide up to 2-hour fire endurance rating, minimize smoke passage and accommodate dynamic movement without degradation of the material.
Multiflex is a patented system of insulation layers encapsulated in stainless steel mesh. The mesh keeps the insulation in place and allows up to 50% lateral shear, a unique feature in the industry. Multiflex is supplied in standard 10’ lengths.
FB-97 utilizes multiple layers of ceramic insulation separated by air space. The barriers’ insulation design allows FB-97 to maintain the required temperature limit for 2 hours while open to 72 inches. FB-97 is available with optional 100% lateral shear capability for 4-way movement.
