Frequently Asked Questions
How will regional climate differences affect Corian SunShades customization options?
Depending on the region, engineering will be required from the onset of the project. For example, South Florida wind loads will have a different limitation on projection than in other parts of the country. Local code and wind loads may impact the base 18’’ projection. This projection may be reduced because of structural considerations.
How do LED lights get incorporated into the Corian system?
LED lights cannot be incorporated into a single Corian fin. The best way to utilize the translucent offering with the single vertical fin is to orient it at an angle where the sun will make it glow. LED lights may be incorporated into a more sophisticated multi-Corian sheet system.
What systems do your Airfoil Lux sunshades mount to?
CS frequently mounts to steel, concrete, metal panel, curtain wall, storefront, or brick.
What building type is best for Twisted Sunshades?
Any building type with a large enough area “canvas” to display this highly unique and customizable architectural product. Multiple sections wide and tall will best convey the twist feature. Best suited for parking garages, office buildings, education, healthcare, and data centers.
Do you have Expansion Joint Cover models that can be used between new additions and existing construction?
Yes, we offer different versions that can either be made to work with a block out only on one side and surface mount on the existing side or both sides surface mounted.
What is the acceptable amount of interstory drift due to a seismic event?
Industry standards say stairs should accommodate an interstory drift of 2.5% during a seismic event. While common connections failed at .75 and 1.41%, Driftready stairs proved to accommodate an interstory drift of 4.0% and beyond.
