Kaiser Permanente is one of America’s most prominent health care organizations. When designing a new Kaiser facility in Downey, CA, HMC Architects needed to ensure that patient care would not be disrupted during earthquakes. A combination of C/S Expansion Joints were specified to protect the facility inside and out. LAF Series Wall Covers are designed to disengage in a seismic event to protect surrounding finishes from damage. PAN and Flush Seismic Floor Covers are virtually invisible within surrounding floor finishes. On the exterior, flexible seals were specified for weather protection and concealment.
