C/S Project Showcase: Hoag Hospital
The new California seismic codes required Hoag Hospital to upgrade their facility. The challenge for the hospital's project architect, Taylor Associates, was to connect the base isolated nursing tower to the fixed base stair/elevator tower so each could move up to 30 inches independently. Working with Taylor and Hoag's facility design team, C/S was able to create the multi-access corridor connection, a seismic system which provided the required movement while ensuring full corridor access and full fire rating. All parites were brought to C/S' R & D facility to witness full-scale tests of the proposed Hoag designs in order to see if they would work under real world conditions. The system is now installed and fully functioning.
