How do we measure rolling loads?
@htagvalue>Here at CS, we hold ourselves to a high standard of quality and attention when calculating our products' rolling load capabilities.
Something's Missing
@htagvalue>There is no formal industry standard on rolling load testing. That’s why we took it upon ourselves to create a real-life testing method that reflects the day-to-day stresses that entrance mats or grids may face. Along with creating the method and the testing equipment, we even went one step farther by having all our results third-party certified by Architectural Testing, Inc. (ATI), so you know it’s legitimate.
Why do we go to such great lengths? Simple. If your building succeeds, we do too. If you’re better, we are too.
ESTABLISHING A PROCESS
@htagvalue>
Consider the wheel size
We use a hard polyurethane wheel in our rolling load testing. We find that this is the most realistic wheel type and can be found on most types of carts of lifts.
Staying true to the equipment most likely to cross our entrance mats and grids helps us to provide the most accurate results
Incorporate weight and movement
We use a custom-built machine that was specially designed to test rolling load capabilities. It uses pneumatic pressure to apply weight incrementally across the mat or grid.
A rolling load’s motion can cause significant damage to the mat or grid. We test product strength with the wheel actively rolling across the product to mimic a real-life scenario. See the video below for a demonstration.
Record the number of passes
Our testing method dictates rolling the wheel over the mat or grid 1,000 times, minimum. We have found that this number of passes will accurately reflect sustained damage.
After 1,000 passes, there should be no more than a 1/8" indentation on the mat or grid. The weight achieved during this testing is the rate we stand by.
Making it happen
As discussed above, we use a custom-built machine to test rolling load capabilities. See innovation in action.
Better Solutions
@htagvalue>We understand that every project has its own special criteria for entrance mats + grids, and that our standard designs may not be right for your needs. We have a team of technical experts that can work with you to design a custom entrance flooring product that meets your building's exact requirements.
